With three friends from Bushwalkers of Southern Queensland I am off to Flinders Island in Bass Strait for a week of walking. This is granite country like Wilson’s Promitory, with spectacular scenery along the coastline and Mt. Strezlecki to climb. It will be very different from the sandstone and basalt country in the Carnarvon Ranges of Central Queensland. Will take Cave Hill along so I can engage my friends in some discussion about it.
Last week I discovered Bushwalk Australia have a forum http://www.bushwalk.com where you can engage in discussion about bushwalking equipment and your adventures in the Australian bush. I added a bit to the discussion about the Carnarvon Great Walk. I hope to add some comments on Flinders Island when I return.
QORF (Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation) has a photographic competition. I have entered a few photos from the Carnarvon Great Walk just to be part of it and show off photos of my favourite bushwalking area.
